Affordable family meal: Crispy, juicy hunter-style nuggets.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds pheasant breast, cut into strips
  • 1 teaspoon meat tenderizer
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • seasoned salt and pepper to taste
  • 0.5 cup dry potato flakes
  • 0.5 (16 ounce) package buttery round crackers, crushed
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 cup milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat a deep fryer to 375-400 degrees F (190-200 degrees C).
  • Tenderize the pheasant meat with meat tenderizer and gently pound to ensure uniform thickness. In a medium bowl, mix flour, seasoned salt, pepper, potato flakes, and crushed cracker crumbs thoroughly. Keep aside.
  • Whisk together egg and milk in a bowl until smooth. Dip pheasant meat strips in the egg mixture, then coat them in flour. Ensure each strip is well coated and transfer to a plate for easy transfer to the deep fryer.
  • Fry the strips in hot oil until they turn golden brown. Optionally, you can also pan fry them in 1 cup of oil, ensuring to flip if needed.
