Homemade pickled red onions in red wine vinegar: tangy and versatile condiment for sandwiches, burgers, salads, and beyond.
Ingredients:
  • 1 medium red onion, finely chopped
  • 0.5 cup red wine vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
  • 1.5 tablespoons salt
  • 2 teaspoons white sugar
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, mix together onion, both vinegars, salt, and sugar until boiling. Remove from heat and let the mixture steep until the onion is tender, about 20 minutes.
  • Chill for a minimum of 30 minutes, then strain before serving.
