Prepare pickled onions in advance for flavorful enhancement in various dishes.
Ingredients:
  • 250.00 ml white wine vinegar
  • 5.00 gm caster sugar
  • 2.40 gm salt
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp coriander seeds, crushed
  • Pinch of dried chilli flakes
  • 350g onion
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, combine vinegar, sugar, salt, mustard seeds, coriander, and chilli flakes. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes.
  • Peel and thinly slice onions into rings. Layer half of the onions in a warm sterilized 2-cup glass jar. Slowly pour hot vinegar mixture to cover onions. Repeat with the remaining onions and vinegar. Seal the jar, cool, and refrigerate overnight to enhance flavors. Consume within 2 weeks after opening.
