Kid-friendly Japanese-style savory pancake bites - perfect for little helpers!
Ingredients:
  • 18.20 gm olive oil
  • 200g lean beef mince
  • 200g packet shredded coleslaw, chopped
  • 72g pkt 2 Minute Noodles Beef
  • 4 eggs
  • 64.38 gm milk
  • 165.00 ml plain flour
  • 4.00 gm baking powder
  • 39.60 gm mayonnaise
  • 40.00 ml tonkatsu sauce or a good barbeque sauce (see note)
  • 1 green onion, thinly sliced diagonally
Instructions:
  • In a medium frying pan over medium heat, heat oil and add mince. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon, for about 5 minutes. Add coleslaw and cook for an additional 2 minutes until softened. Remove from heat.
  • Cook the noodles according to the packet instructions with the seasoning. Once cooked, drain the noodles and cut them into 5cm lengths.
  • Preheat pie maker until green READY light illuminates.
  • Whisk together eggs, milk, flour, and baking powder until smooth. Season with salt and pepper, then mix in the beef mixture and noodles.
  • Prepare the pie maker by spraying it with oil. Fill each hole with one-eighth (about 1/3 cup) of the mixture. Close the lid and cook for 3-4 minutes until halfway cooked. Flip the pancakes using a spoon or fork, pressing them into the holes. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes until fully cooked. Remove the pancakes from the pie maker and repeat the process with the remaining batter.
  • Plate the okonomiyaki elegantly. Drizzle generously with mayonnaise, tonkatsu sauce, or a quality barbecue sauce. Garnish with scattered onions before serving.
