Ingredients:
  • 1 large brown onion, finely chopped
  • 500g 5 Star Extra Lean Beef Mince
  • 10.00 gm Cornflour
  • 191.25 gm beef stock
  • 195.00 gm tomato sauce
  • 48.80 gm Worcestershire sauce
  • 22.60 gm barbecue sauce
  • 1 tsp Vegemite
  • 2 sheets frozen shortcrust pastry, thawed
  • 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan over medium-high heat, heat oil until shimmering. Add onion and cook until soft, about 3 minutes. Then add mince and cook for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon, until browned.
  • Combine cornflour and 1 tablespoon of stock to create a smooth paste. Pour in the rest of the stock, along with sauces and Vegemite, into the mince mixture. Bring to a boil, then lower heat to medium-low and let it simmer for 8 minutes until thickened. Allow to cool before serving.
  • Preheat the oven to 220°C and place a baking tray inside. Grease 4 pie pans with an 8cm base measurement.
  • Cut 4 circles measuring 15cm in diameter from shortcrust pastry and use them to line the bases and sides of pans. Fill them with mince, brush the rims with water. Cut 4 puff pastry circles also measuring 15cm in diameter and place them over the meat. Press to seal, trim, brush with egg, and season.
  • Place the pies on a preheated tray and bake until golden and delicious, about 20 to 25 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
