Delicious Italian Easter pie with sausage, prosciutto, cheeses, all in a flaky crust.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (12 ounce) package Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1.5 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 (3 ounce) package prosciutto, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 2 (9 inch) prepared pie crusts
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) for a perfect bake.
  • 1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown and crumble the sausage until cooked through, which should take about 5 to 8 minutes. Remove excess grease.
  • Combine Parmesan cheese, mozzarella cheese, ricotta cheese, and eggs in a large bowl until fully mixed. Gently fold in cooked sausage, prosciutto, and parsley until well combined.
  • Roll out one pie crust into a generous 11-inch circle on a lightly floured surface. Carefully transfer it to a pie plate, allowing a 1/2-inch edge to drape over the sides. Use a fork to prick the crust all over. Spread the sausage mixture evenly on top of the crust. Roll out the other pie crust into a slightly larger 12-inch circle. Gently place it over the filling. Press and crimp the edges to seal. Make a few slashes in the top crust to allow steam to vent.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour until the center is set and the crust is beautifully golden brown.
