Spring Chinese-style pork roast with honey and soy - a delicious crowd-pleaser.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 20.00 ml dry sherry
  • 25ml salt-reduced soy sauce
  • 2 (about 300g each) pork fillets
  • 2.50 gm cornflour
  • 20.00 gm cold water
  • 1/2 tsp vegetable stock powder
  • 80ml (1/3 cup) hot water
  • 80ml (1/3 cup) orange juice
  • 14.40 gm honey
  • 3cm-piece fresh ginger, peeled, cut into thin matchsticks
  • 40.00 ml dry sherry, extra
  • 2 navel oranges, segmented
  • Steamed Asian greens, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 180C. Mix sesame oil, sherry, and 1 tablespoon of soy sauce in a dish. Add pork and evenly coat. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes to marinate.
  • Combine cornflour with cold water and dissolve. In a separate bowl, dissolve stock powder in hot water. Pour both mixtures together in a jug. Stir in orange juice, honey, and remaining soy sauce.
  • Preheat a frying pan over high heat and spray with oil. Sear pork for 2 minutes on each side. Then, roast on a baking tray for 10-12 minutes until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Transfer to a plate, cover with foil, and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  • 1. Heat a frying pan over medium heat. Cook ginger for 1 minute. 2. Pour in additional sherry and cook for 1 minute. 3. Stir in honey mixture and cook for 2 minutes or until sauce thickens. 4. Add orange slices. 5. Slice pork, spoon sauce over it, and serve with greens.
