Canadian cocoa puffed wheat squares: soft, chewy delight.
Ingredients:
  • 10 cups puffed wheat cereal
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 0.5 cup unsalted butter
  • 6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
Instructions:
  • Prepare the 9x13-inch pan by greasing it, then transfer the cereal into a spacious heat-proof bowl.
  • Combine corn syrup, white sugar, butter, cocoa powder, and brown sugar in a heavy saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, then pour over cereal and mix thoroughly.
  • Press the mixture firmly into the prepared pan and let it cool completely before slicing into 24 squares. Chill for at least 1 hour, or for best results, refrigerate for up to one day.
