Spiced Indian fried okra for a flavorful, exotic twist.
Ingredients:
  • 0.33333334326744 cup vegetable oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon mustard seed
  • 1 pinch asafoetida powder
  • 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 clove garlic, peeled and sliced
  • 0.25 teaspoon cumin seed
  • 0.125 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1 large tomato, chopped
  • 1 (16 ounce) package frozen sliced okra
  • 0.25 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon amchoor
Instructions:
  • In a medium skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add mustard seeds and cook until they start to crackle. Stir in asafoetida. Lower the heat and add onion, garlic, cumin seeds, and turmeric. Cook and stir until the onion is tender, approximately 5 minutes.
  • Mix in the tomato and okra, then gradually add the chili powder, amchoor, and salt. Cook and stir for about 10 minutes until the okra is tender yet firm.
