Gourmet grilled sandwich with ham, turkey, and melted cheese.
Ingredients:
  • 4 crusty bread rolls, split
  • 125g thinly sliced leg ham
  • 125g thickly sliced roast turkey
  • 100g sliced Jarlsberg cheese
  • 3 pickled cucumbers (preferably marinated with garlic), thinly sliced
  • 1 vine-ripened tomato, thinly sliced
  • Salad, to serve
  • 2 tsp finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tsp finely chopped fresh oregano
  • 1 small garlic clove, crushed
  • 40.00 ml red wine vinegar
Instructions:
  • Make the Cuban dressing by mixing all the ingredients in a screwtop jar and shaking until well combined.
  • Spread the bottom half of each roll with 1 tablespoon of dressing. Layer leg ham, turkey, cheese, pickles, and tomato on the rolls, then top with the other halves.
  • For a delicious twist, cook the sandwiches in a sandwich press until golden and crispy. Alternatively, heat a touch of oil in a hot frypan over medium-low heat, cover, and cook for 5-10 minutes until the cheese is oozy, flipping once and using an egg slice to firmly press them down.
  • Enjoy the toasted sandwiches alongside a refreshing tomato and onion salad tossed in a tangy mix of red wine vinegar and oil.
