Enhance classic red velvet cake by adding red food coloring for a vibrant touch. Utilize cake mix for an easy, moist, and delectable result.
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Devil's Food Cake Mix
  • 1 bottle (1 oz) red food color
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 1/2 cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tub (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Fluffy White Frosting
  • Betty Crocker™ Easy Flow decorating icing (any colors)
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and generously grease the bottom of a 13x9-inch pan with shortening or cooking spray.
  • In a sizable bowl, use an electric mixer to combine cake mix, food color, water, oil, and eggs on low speed for 30 seconds, then switch to medium speed for 2 minutes, occasionally scraping the sides of the bowl. Fold in chocolate chips and transfer mixture to the pan.
  • Bake for 32 to 37 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool completely for about 1 hour.
  • Cover the cake with a layer of white frosting. Use decorative icing to create colorful ribbons as desired. Store the cake at room temperature with a loose cover.
