Elevate your sugar cookies with a festive retro garland decoration using colored frosting and creative toppings like M&M’s® candy for a unique Christmas touch.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pouch (17.5 oz) Betty Crocker™ Sugar Cookie Mix
  • Flour, butter and egg called for on cookie mix pouch for cutout cookies
  • 1 1/4 cups from 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • 1/8 teaspoon Betty Crocker™ blue gel food color
  • M&M’s® candy-coated milk chocolate candies (assorted colors), if desired
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F. Combine cookie mix, flour, butter, and egg in a medium bowl until a soft dough forms.
  • Roll the dough to 1/4 inch thickness on a floured surface. Use a 3-inch tree-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes, then place them 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 7 to 9 minutes until edges turn light golden brown. Allow to cool for 1 minute, then transfer from cookie sheets to a cooling rack. Let cool completely for about 20 minutes.
  • Combine 1 1/4 cups frosting and food color in a large microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 25-30 seconds until warm and thin. Dip cookie tops in glaze, allowing excess to drip off. Place on cooling rack over sheet or paper. Reheat glaze in microwave if needed for dipping. Add a chocolate candy to each tree, if desired. Let set for 2 hours before storing between waxed paper layers in an airtight container at room temperature.
