Delicious Polish crescent cookies enjoyed during the holidays, perfect for serving on cozy winter nights with coffee or tea.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 0.25 cup chopped blanched almonds
  • 1.6666666269302 cups all-purpose flour
  • Confectioners' sugar for dusting
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Whip together the butter and sugar until fluffy. Incorporate the egg, vanilla, and almonds quickly. Fold in the flour until a dough comes together.
  • Roll the dough into a 3/4-inch thick rope, then cut it into 3-inch long pieces. Shape each cookie by gently rolling it back and forth with two fingers on each end until it's about 5-inches long, plump in the center, and thinner on the ends. Repeat with the rest of the cookies.
  • Arrange the cookies on a baking sheet, gently shaping them into crescent 'C' forms. Bake in a preheated oven until the edges are beautifully golden brown, approximately 20 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar right away, then allow them to cool thoroughly on a wire rack.
