Indulgent dessert bars combine caramel apple and s'mores flavors with fresh apples, marshmallows, sea salt, Golden Grahams cereal, and chocolate chips.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups Golden Grahams™ cereal
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 apples, peeled, sliced
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt
  • 1 cup miniature marshmallows
  • 1 cup Golden Grahams™ cereal
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and generously grease a 9-inch square pan with shortening or cooking spray.
  • Start by crushing 1 1/2 cups of cereal in a blender and transferring it to a medium bowl. Then, mix in the flour, baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon of salt with the crushed cereal and set it aside.
  • In a large bowl, cream together 1 cup of butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy using an electric mixer. Mix in vanilla and eggs. Slowly add the cereal-flour mixture on low speed until a dough forms.
  • Set aside 1 cup of dough for the topping, then firmly press the rest of the dough into the bottom of the pan to create the base. Bake for 15 minutes.
  • In a 2-quart nonstick saucepan over medium heat, melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Add apples and sprinkle with brown sugar. Cook for 5 to 7 minutes until apples are softened.
  • Take the Base out of the oven and generously spoon the caramel-coated cooked apples over it. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of salt over the apples, and add the S’more Toppings on top. Finish by crumbling the reserved cup of dough evenly over the mixture.
  • Bake until the top is beautifully browned for extra flavor. Allow to cool completely for about 30 minutes. Cut into either 9 bars by 3 rows or 12 bars by 4 rows. Store in the fridge to keep them fresh.
