Mouthwatering Santa Maria tri tip roast, a SoCal BBQ classic, is oven-roasted to perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon finely ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon granulated garlic
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried sage
  • 0.25 teaspoon lemon pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon beef bouillon granules
  • 1 (3 pound) beef tri-tip roast
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • In a small bowl, combine kosher salt, black pepper, granulated garlic, onion powder, oregano, cayenne pepper, rosemary, sage, lemon pepper, seasoned salt, and beef bouillon. Sprinkle the spice mixture evenly over the roast and massage the spices into the meat.
  • 1. Preheat a skillet over high heat. Sear the roast until golden brown on each side for 2 to 3 minutes. Place the meat, fat-side up, in a roasting pan and cover with foil.
  • Roast in the preheated oven for 90 minutes until meat changes from pink to grey. Use a thermometer to check for doneness (150°F/65°C). Remove from oven, tent with foil, and let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
