Savory ground beef and vegetable stew topped with creamy mashed potatoes, baked to perfection for a cozy and satisfying meal.
Ingredients:
  • 6 potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 6 tablespoons butter, divided
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1.5 pounds ground beef
  • 1 (15 ounce) jar Classico® Tomato and Basil Sauce
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • In a large pot, cover the potatoes and carrots with water and boil until tender, about 15 minutes. Drain and set aside the carrots. Return the potatoes to the pot, add milk, 2 tablespoons of butter, salt, and pepper. Mash until smooth and flavorful.
  • In a large frying pan over medium heat, melt the last 4 tablespoons of butter. Cook the onions until softened, about 10 minutes.
  • Turn up the heat and add the ground beef. Cook and stir until the meat is fully browned; then drain any excess fat. Mix in the tomato-basil sauce.
  • Layer the carrots in the ungreased pie dish, followed by the beef mixture, and top with an even layer of mashed potatoes.
  • Roast without a cover until the inside heats up to 165 degrees F, approximately 20 minutes.
