Delicious Scottish dish with hardboiled egg encased in seasoned mince meat and crispy breadcrumbs. Perfect as a side, starter, or tasty snack.
Ingredients:
  • Oil, to fry
  • Breadcrumbs, to coat
  • Plain flour, to dust
  • 7 eggs
  • 1 small red chilli, deseeded
  • 40.00 ml chopped fresh herbs
  • 500g beef mince ( or pork, lamb, veal mince)
Instructions:
  • 1. Spread the plain flour on a plate. 2. Submerge 6 eggs in cold water in a saucepan. 3. Gradually heat the water until it boils. 4. Boil the eggs for 12 minutes. 5. Drain the boiled eggs and let them cool. 6. Peel the eggs and lightly coat them with flour until the surface is dry.
  • In a food processor, blend the onion, garlic, chili, and herbs until finely chopped. Add the mince and process until it is finely chopped and well mixed. Finally, add the remaining egg and process until a cohesive mixture forms.
  • Divide the mixture into 6 even portions. Flatten a portion in your hand to form a cup shape. Place a hard-boiled egg inside and wrap the meat around it. Roll to make it smooth, coat in breadcrumbs, and set aside. Repeat with the remaining eggs.
  • Prepare a plate lined with paper towel. Deep fry the Scotch eggs in batches in hot oil for a minimum of 10 minutes until evenly golden brown. Transfer to the lined plate to drain excess oil.
