Tender steak stuffed with Italian breadcrumbs, simmered in sauce, served over pasta.
Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 0.125 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • 0.125 cup grated Romano cheese
  • 0.125 cup raisins
  • 0.125 cup pine nuts, toasted
  • 1.5 pounds round steak
  • 1 (32 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
Instructions:
  • In a heavy skillet over medium heat, warm 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Sauté onion until translucent for about 10 minutes. Add garlic and parsley, and cook until onions start to brown. Take it off the heat and let it cool down.
  • Combine bread crumbs, Romano cheese, sweet raisins, crunchy pine nuts, and a touch of pepper in a medium bowl.
  • Tenderize steak to 1/2-inch thickness using a mallet or cleaver. Evenly spread onion mixture on meat, leaving a 1-inch edge. Layer bread crumbs, drizzle with 1 tablespoon olive oil. Roll tightly from one end and secure with kitchen twine.
  • In a Dutch oven over medium-high heat, heat the remaining olive oil. Brown the steak on all sides for 1 to 2 minutes each. Add spaghetti sauce, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 2 hours or until tender.
