Reduce saturated fat and cholesterol. Handle dough gently for tender scones with reduced fat content.
Ingredients:
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • 1 3/4 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon finely shredded orange peel
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons dried rosemary, crushed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup fat-free evaporated milk
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 1/4 cup refrigerated or frozen egg product, thawed
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. Grease a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray and set it aside. Combine flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, orange peel, rosemary, and salt in a large bowl. In a separate bowl, mix milk, oil, and egg product. Pour the milk mixture into the flour mixture all at once. Gently stir until just combined.
  • Lightly knead dough on a floured surface 10 times. Gently shape into an 8-inch circle, 3/4 inch thick. Cut into 12 wedges and place on baking sheet. Bake until golden brown, 15-18 minutes. Cool on wire rack for 5 minutes before serving warm.
