Effortless crowd-pleasing shortcake with buttery biscuit base, sweet whipped cream, and sugared strawberries. Perfect for spring and summer gatherings. Customize with your favorite fresh berries. Guaranteed hit at any party!
Ingredients:
  • 3 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup cold butter, cut in pieces
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 quart (4 cups) strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 400°F. In a large bowl, combine flour, 1/2 cup granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well mixed. Add butter and mix with a pastry blender or fork until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • In a small bowl, gently mix together eggs and 2 cups of luxurious whipping cream until well combined. Fold this mixture into the flour until a soft dough forms. Using lightly floured fingers, press and pat the dough into the bottom of a 15x10x1-inch ungreased pan.
  • Bake until beautifully golden for 16 to 20 minutes. Allow to cool fully for about 1 hour.
  • In a spacious bowl, combine strawberries with 1/4 cup of granulated sugar, stirring occasionally.
  • In a chilled large bowl, use an electric mixer on medium-high speed to whip the topping ingredients until stiff peaks form. Spread whipped cream on top, spoon sugared berries over, and cut into 4x4 squares. Keep covered in the refrigerator until serving.
