Tender flank steak stir-fried with onions, garlic, soy sauce, and hoisin sauce - a Chinese restaurant classic.
Ingredients:
  • 1 pound flank steak, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 0.25 cup cornstarch
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 3 large green onions, sliced diagonally into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 0.5 cup brown sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon minced fresh ginger root
  • 0.5 cup hoisin sauce
Instructions:
  • Add the flank steak and cornstarch to a resealable plastic bag and shake well to coat the steak evenly. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, sizzle the steak in olive oil until perfectly browned, for 2 to 4 minutes. Transfer onion, garlic, flank steak, green onions, soy sauce, water, brown sugar, ginger, and hoisin sauce to a slow cooker. Simmer on Low for about 4 hours.
