Effortlessly make flavorful sausage stuffing with cranberries and apples in your slow cooker, leaving your oven free. Perfect for holiday feasts!
Instructions:
  • Prepare the bread: Slice the bread into 1-inch chunks. Spread them out on a baking sheet and bake at 350˚F for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are crispy and dry like croutons. Some light browning is optional.
  • Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into pieces as it browns, for about 6-7 minutes until cooked through. Keep the flavorful drippings in the skillet.
  • Lavishly coat the inside of a 5-quart (or larger) slow cooker with butter to prevent sticking. Layer onion, celery, carrot, garlic, apple, cranberries, salt, pepper, sage, and rosemary. Place toasted bread on top, followed by sausage, scraping any drippings from the skillet. Pour in chicken stock and cover with the lid.
  • To cook the stuffing, simply set your slow cooker on high for 4 hours, stirring it once halfway through for even cooking. In the last 30 minutes, check the consistency. If it's too watery, leave the lid slightly ajar to allow excess moisture to cook off.
  • Adjust seasonings: Taste the stuffing and season with salt and pepper as needed. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving. Enjoy the dish and leave a review below!
