Easy slow-cooker apple cake - tender, spicy, and bursting with apple flavor. Set it and forget it, perfect for hassle-free desserts.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/3 cup buttermilk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup dried apple slices, coarsely chopped
  • Cool Whip frozen whipped topping, thawed, if desired
Instructions:
  • Grease a 5-quart slow cooker generously. Create an X pattern with two 30-inch-long strips of parchment paper at the bottom and along the sides of the slow cooker. Place an additional piece of parchment paper at the bottom and spray all the paper with cooking spray.
  • Combine flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and cloves in a medium bowl using a whisk. In a separate small bowl, mix applesauce, buttermilk, melted butter, vanilla, and egg. Combine the applesauce mixture with the flour mixture until smooth, then mix in the dried apples. Pour the batter into the slow cooker and spread it evenly.
  • Cover and cook over High heat for 1 to 1.5 hours until puffed and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cut into wedges, serve warm, and top with whipped topping.
