Elevate your roast dinner with a luscious homemade gravy.
Ingredients:
  • 30g butter
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, smashed
  • 4 sprigs thyme, chopped
  • 30.00 ml plain flour
  • 3.75 gm smoked paprika
  • 123.75 gm red wine
  • 255.00 gm chicken style liquid stock
  • 4.00 gm brown sugar
Instructions:
  • In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, melt butter. Sauté onion, garlic, and thyme for 5 minutes or until nicely browned, enhancing the flavor of your gravy. Add flour and paprika, stirring well to coat, and cook for 30 seconds.
  • Gradually combine wine and stock while being cautious of the steam. Scrape up the flavorful brown bits from the pan. Bring to a high boil, then reduce heat and simmer gently for 4 minutes until the sauce thickens. Strain into a small jug, stir in sugar, and adjust seasoning to taste.
