Decadent chocolate cake with dreamy whipped cream frosting adored by my family.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 0.5 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup cold, brewed coffee
  • 1.5 cups confectioners' sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Sift flour, sugar, cocoa, salt, baking powder, and baking soda in a bowl. In a small bowl, mix eggs, oil, milk, and vanilla. Combine wet and dry ingredients. Stir in cold coffee. The batter will be thin but bakes into a rich, moist cake.
  • Grease a 9 x 13 inch pan and bake the mixture for around 40 minutes.
  • For Whipped Cream Frosting: Whisk together 1/4 cup flour and 1 cup milk slowly until smooth. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until thick. Chill completely. Beat 1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar with 1/2 cup butter and 1/2 cup shortening until fluffy. Mix in cooled flour-milk mixture and beat until creamy. Add 1 tsp vanilla and combine. Spread on cake and enjoy!
