Campbell's French onion soup: Caramelized onions in savory beef consommé, topped with cheesy garlic Texas toast. Rich, flavorful perfection.
Ingredients:
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 4 large onions, cut in half and thinly sliced
  • 1 (14.5 ounce) carton Campbell's® Sweet Onion Soup (Soups for Easy Cooking)
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can Campbell's® Condensed Beef Consomme or Campbell's® Condensed Beef Broth
  • 10.5 ounces water
  • 4 slices Pepperidge Farm® Garlic Texas Toast
Instructions:
  • In a 4-quart saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Cook and stir onions until well browned and caramelized, about 15 minutes.
  • Add the sweet onion soup and consommé to the saucepan. Fill the consommé can with water, swirl to mix, and pour into the saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer on low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 425 degrees F (220 degrees C) and elegantly place Texas toast on an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake in the center of the preheated oven until golden brown, flipping once, for 2 to 3 minutes each side.
  • Divide soup evenly among four bowls and place a slice of toast on top of each bowl.
