Elevate dried peas with a flavorful blend of spices and salsa for a standout side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 lb dried black-eyed peas (2 cups), sorted, rinsed
  • 1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
  • 6 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 3/4 cup thick & chunky medium or hot salsa
Instructions:
  • Combine all ingredients in a 3- to 4-quart slow cooker, excluding the salsa.
  • Cover the dish and cook on High heat for 3 to 4 hours.
  • Mix in flavorful salsa, then cover and cook on high heat for approximately 10 minutes or until piping hot.
