Homemade cookie dough shaped into spooky witches fingers, topped with almond nails and red food gel for a creepy Halloween treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2.6666667461395 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.75 cup whole almonds
  • 1 (.75 ounce) tube red decorating gel
Instructions:
  • In a mixing bowl, combine softened butter, sugar, egg, almond extract, and vanilla extract. Beat with an electric mixer until smooth. Gradually add flour, baking powder, and salt; continue to beat until well combined. Chill dough for 20 to 30 minutes before using.
  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C) and lightly grease baking sheets.
  • Take small portions of dough out of the refrigerator. Scoop 1 heaping teaspoon onto a sheet of waxed paper. Roll the dough using the waxed paper into a thin finger-shaped cookie. Place one almond at the end of each cookie to resemble a long fingernail. Squeeze the cookie at the tip and center for knuckle-like impressions. Use a sharp knife to cut the dough at these points for a more realistic appearance of fingers. Place the shaped cookies on baking sheets.
  • Place the cookies in the preheated oven and bake until they turn a light golden hue, which should take about 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Remove the almond from each cookie, add a touch of red decorating gel, then place the almond back to let the gel flow out elegantly from the tip.
