Buttery almond spritz cookies, reminiscent of childhood memories, topped with colorful sprinkles and icing drizzle.
Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups salted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • Colored sugar, nonpareils, sprinkles
Instructions:
  • Prepare your ingredients and preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Using an electric mixer, cream the butter in a large bowl for 30 seconds.
  • Add the sugar, baking powder, and salt. Mix until well combined, while occasionally scraping the sides of the bowl. Incorporate the egg, vanilla, and almond extract until fully combined.
  • Use the mixer to incorporate most of the flour into the mixture. Finish by gently folding in any remaining flour with a wooden spoon.
  • Press the room-temperature dough through a cookie press onto ungreased cookie sheets; optionally, decorate with colored sugar or nonpareils.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 6 to 8 minutes, until edges are firm but not browned. Cool completely on wire racks.
  • In a small bowl, mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Add more milk, 1 teaspoon at a time, to achieve desired drizzling consistency.
  • Drizzle the cooled cookies with a delectable powdered sugar icing and sprinkle them with colorful sprinkles for a delightful finish.
