Steam blue crabs in a flavor-packed brew of beer, vinegar, salt, and Old Bay, then serve on a fun and easy-to-clean newspaper lining.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups beer
  • 3 cups distilled white vinegar
  • 0.75 cup seafood seasoning (such as Old Bay®), divided
  • 0.5 cup salt
  • 36 live blue crabs
Instructions:
  • In a large stockpot over high heat, combine beer, vinegar, 1/2 cup seafood seasoning, and salt and bring to a vigorous simmer.
  • Before cooking, gently invert each crab and insert a knife through the shell, just behind the mouth.
  • Place a screen over the gently simmering beer mixture and arrange the crabs on top of the screen.
  • Steam the crabs until they become bright orange and lose their blue-green color for 20 to 30 minutes. Just before serving, sprinkle with the remaining 1/4 cup of seafood seasoning.
