"Delicious and healthy steamed trout infused with Japanese flavors, served with vibrant sushi salad."
Ingredients:
  • 250.00 ml diced carrot
  • 1 tsp wasabi
  • 40.00 ml mirin (see Notes)
  • 40.00 ml rice wine vinegar
  • 4.50 gm sugar
  • 1/2 avocado, diced
  • 125.00 ml diced Lebanese cucumber
  • 62.50 ml pickled ginger
  • 6.00 gm black sesame seeds
  • 1 nori sheet (see Notes)
  • 4 (100g each) fillets ocean trout, skinned, pin-boned
Instructions:
  • Boil rice in salted water for 8 minutes until tender, then drain and transfer to a bowl. Quickly blanch carrot in boiling salted water for 1 minute.
  • Mix the spicy wasabi, sweet mirin, tangy rice wine vinegar, and a hint of sugar together. Toss the flavorful mixture with rice, creamy avocado, crisp cucumber, crunchy carrot, and zesty ginger. Serve the vibrant salad in a bowl and garnish with toasted sesame seeds.
  • Cut the nori sheet into four 4cm strips. Lightly moisten each strip with water and wrap it around the center of each fish fillet, ensuring the seam is placed underneath to seal.
  • Prepare a bamboo or kitchen steamer by lining it with a sheet of baking paper. Place the fish fillets on top and steam over simmering water for 5 minutes or until cooked through. Serve the trout with sushi salad and add extra wasabi if desired.
