Foolproof recipe for versatile breads and rolls.
Ingredients:
  • 450g (3 cups) plain bread flour (see note)
  • 20.00 ml (12g/2 sachets) dried yeast
  • 10.00 gm caster sugar
  • 1.20 gm salt
  • 250ml (1 cup) warm milk
  • 40.00 gm melted butter
Instructions:
  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, yeast, and sugar. Stir in salt, then create a well in the center. Pour in milk and add butter.
  • Stir the mixture with a wooden spoon until fully combined, then use your hands to form the dough in the bowl. Transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Grease a large bowl with olive oil. Put the dough in the bowl and cover it with a damp tea towel. Let it rise in a warm, draft-free spot for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  • Make an impression in the center of the dough with your fist, then transfer it to a floured surface. Knead for 2 minutes until the dough is stretchy and has puffed back up. Proceed to the next steps in your recipe.
