Learn to make homemade gnocchi with this simple, detailed recipe. Serve with your favorite sauce for a delicious meal!
Ingredients:
  • 750g potato
  • 200g plain flour
Instructions:
  • 1. In a saucepan, boil potatoes in cold water until just tender when tested with a skewer, about 20-25 minutes. Be careful not to over-test to avoid making them waterlogged. 2. Drain potatoes well and let them cool until you can handle them. 3. Peel the potatoes by hand while still warm. 4. Using a potato ricer or a mouli, mash the potatoes into a bowl. 5. Season the pureed potatoes with salt to taste. 6. Allow the mixture to cool slightly before using.
  • Combine the flour with the potatoes and knead gently with your hands until a soft dough comes together. If the mixture is too sticky, gradually add more flour as needed. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 2cm-wide log using your hands. Using a lightly floured knife, cut each log into 1.5cm-long pieces.
  • Create a textured surface on each gnocchi ball by rolling it over a lightly-floured fork, pressing gently with your finger to form a dent on one side and fork marks on the other.
  • 1. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add 1/4 of the gnocchi and cook until they float to the surface, about 10 seconds. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain. Repeat with the remaining gnocchi. Serve hot, tossed in your preferred sauce.
