Elevate a boxed cake mix with creative additions for a gourmet twist on a classic dessert.
Ingredients:
  • 340g pkt Golden Buttercake
  • 300g fresh dates, pitted, chopped
  • 125ml (1/2 cup) boiling water
  • 32.00 gm brown sugar
  • 2.50 gm mixed spice
  • Maple syrup, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180°C. Grease a 22cm round cake pan with melted butter and line it with non-stick baking paper. Make the White Wings Golden Buttercake according to the packet instructions up to the end of step 2.
  • In a bowl, soak dates in boiling water for 10 minutes, then mash. Stir in brown sugar and fold into cake mixture. Add mixed spice and spoon into prepared pan. Smooth the surface and bake for 55 minutes, or until a skewer comes out clean when inserted into the center. Cool in the pan and serve with maple syrup.
