Creamy frozen yogurt made with fresh strawberries for a refreshing and fruity treat.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups de-stemmed sliced fresh strawberries
  • 3 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2/3 cup to 1 cup sugar (depending on how sweet you want the result, and how sweet your strawberries are to begin with)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 1/2 cups full fat yogurt (if use low or non fat, then add 2 Tbsp cream)
Instructions:
  • In a medium saucepan, combine strawberries, lemon juice, salt, and sugar over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves completely. Mash the strawberries using a potato masher while heating. Remove from heat once sugar is fully dissolved, then let sit for 10 minutes before using.
  • Incorporate the milk and yogurt as you stir until well combined. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least an hour, or preferably several hours, until completely cold before moving forward.
  • Churn the mixture in your ice cream maker for 20 to 25 minutes until creamy. Enjoy right away or freeze until ready to serve. For an alternative method, check out David Lebovitz's guide on making ice cream without a machine.
