Strawberry Shortcake with Cheesecake Whipped Cream

Strawberry angel food cake layered with creamy whipped cream cheese for a delightful treat.
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 quarts fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
  • 1 (10 inch) angel food cake, cut in cubes
  • 0.5 quart fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
Instructions:
  • Combine 1 1/2 quarts of strawberries with white sugar in a large bowl, then softly mash the strawberries using a potato masher. Chill in the refrigerator.
  • In a bowl, beat cream cheese until light and fluffy, then set aside. In another bowl, beat heavy cream until soft peaks form. Add whipped cream cheese and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Test by lifting your beater or whisk straight up for a sharp peak that holds its shape. Beat in confectioners' sugar and vanilla extract.
  • Begin the delicious creation by gently laying half of the airy angel food cake in a large bowl or a trifle dish. Gracefully dollop a third of the velvety cream cheese mixture over the cake, followed by a luscious layer of mashed strawberries. Repeat this delightful layering process, culminating in a final luxurious cream cheese layer. Artfully adorn the dessert with the remaining 1/2 quart of sliced strawberries. Let it chill until you are ready to indulge.
