Elevate strawberry pie with a tropical mango puree, baked in a flaky crust, and topped with a spiced crumble for a delicious and simple treat.
Ingredients:
  • 2 mangos - peeled, seeded, and cubed
  • 0.25 cup apple juice
  • 15 fresh strawberries, hulled and halved
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 0.5 cup cold butter
  • 0.25 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 (9 inch) refrigerated pie crust
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) and cool down a mixing bowl in the refrigerator.
  • Combine ripe mangos and apple juice in a saucepan and simmer gently. After 10 minutes, mix in 1/4 cup of white sugar and honey. Then, add the strawberries and simmer on low heat until the fruit softens.
  • Add chilled butter to the mixing bowl and cut into small pieces. Mix in 1/4 cup white sugar, brown sugar, flour, nutmeg, and cinnamon. Use your fingers or forks to blend until the mixture is crumbly. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Transfer the mango mixture into the pie crust, then evenly sprinkle the crumb mixture over the fruit.
  • Bake in a preheated oven until the topping turns golden brown, approximately 20 minutes. Let it cool for at least 30 minutes before serving.
