Delicious almond pie crust, perfect for any pie filling. Elevates your pie to a whole new level - no need for ice cream on the side!
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup cake flour
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.125 cup baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup white sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1.25 cups shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 0.25 cup cold water
  • 1.5 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 teaspoons almond extract
Instructions:
  • Combine cake flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, white sugar, and brown sugar in a large bowl. Add shortening and blend with fingers or a pastry blender until mixture forms pea-sized lumps. In another bowl, whisk together egg, water, vanilla, and almond extract.
  • Combine the wet ingredients with the dry and mix until the dough forms. Divide the dough in half, shape into balls, and gently flatten. Wrap each one in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight before rolling out for the crust.
