Create a sweet and simple heart-shaped cake using Betty Crocker cake mix in round and square pans. Perfect for Valentine's Day!
Ingredients:
  • 1 tub (12 oz) Betty Crocker™ Whipped Fluffy White Frosting
  • Red food color
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (or 325°F for dark or nonstick pans) and lightly grease the bottoms of an 8-inch round and an 8-inch square pan.
  • In a large bowl, gently blend together the cake mix, water, oil, and egg whites using an electric mixer on low speed for 30 seconds, then increase the speed to medium and mix for 2 minutes, scraping the sides of the bowl occasionally. Transfer the batter into the baking pans.
  • Bake in a square pan for 25 to 29 minutes or in a round pan for 29 to 34 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then remove. Allow to cool completely, about 1 hour.
  • Slice the round cake in half. Position the square cake on a tray with one point facing you. Attach each half of the round cake to one of the top edges of the square cake to form a heart shape. (Refer to the diagram in the link for visual guidance.)
  • Add a few drops of food coloring to the frosting to give it a beautiful tint. Use the tinted frosting to generously frost the cake. Store the cake loosely covered to keep it fresh.
