Delight your loved ones with succulent T-bone steak and creamy buttermilk mashed potatoes.
Ingredients:
  • 1kg desiree potatoes, peeled, chopped
  • 80ml buttermilk
  • 30g butter, chopped
  • 18.20 gm olive oil
  • 4 Beef T-bone Steaks (300g each)
  • 2 red onions, cut into thick wedges
  • 20.00 ml traditional gravy powder
  • 80ml red wine
  • 11.80 gm wholegrain mustard
  • Steamed sugar snap peas, to serve
  • Parsley leaves, to serve
Instructions:
  • 1. Add the potato to a medium saucepan of cold water and bring to a boil over high heat. Cook for 15 minutes or until tender, then drain. Return the potato to the pan and shake over low heat to remove excess liquid. Mash in buttermilk and butter until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Heat the oil in a large heavy-based frying pan over medium heat. Cook the steaks for 3 minutes on each side or until they reach your preferred level of doneness. Transfer to a plate and cover to keep warm.
  • Saute the onion in the pan until soft, then sprinkle in the gravy powder and stir well. Next, mix the wine and 1 1/2 cups (375ml) of water together and slowly incorporate into the onion mixture. Cook until it boils and slightly thickens. Finish by stirring in the mustard.
  • Spoon mashed potato onto plates. Place steaks on top and drizzle with red onion gravy. Serve with sugar snap peas and garnish with parsley leaves.
