Upgrade your Thanksgiving dessert table with decadent bread pudding drizzled with sweet rum sauce, alongside the classic pumpkin pie for a delightful holiday spread!
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups cubed bread
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 2 cups half-and-half
  • 5 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 0.5 cup raisins
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 0.5 stick unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 0.25 cup rum
Instructions:
  • Spread the bread evenly on a rimmed baking sheet. Let it sit in a cold oven with the light on for 8 hours to overnight. Take it out of the oven.
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and grease a 9x13-inch pan.
  • In a large bowl, combine sugar, half-and-half, and eggs. Stir in vanilla, then add bread cubes and allow them to absorb the liquid for 2 to 3 minutes. Mix in raisins and transfer mixture to the prepared pan.
  • Combine the brown sugar and butter until crumbly in a small bowl, then sprinkle the mixture over the bread.
  • Bake in the oven until cooked through, 35 to 45 minutes.
  • As the bread pudding bakes, make the delightful rum sauce by combining sugar, melted butter, egg, and vanilla in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then add rum and continue stirring until smooth and well mixed.
  • Take the bread pudding out of the oven and generously drizzle with rum sauce before serving.
