Delight children with a playful jelly bean adorned cake using our free template. Perfect for birthdays!
Ingredients:
  • 2 x 340g packets golden buttercake
  • 4 eggs
  • 120g butter, softened
  • 386.25 gm milk
  • 1 quantity butter cream icing (see related recipe)
  • green food colouring
  • 2 strawberry-flavoured sour straps
  • 2 yellow icing flowers
  • 1/2 x 350g packet jubes, quartered
  • 40.00 ml candy butterflies (we used Dollar Sweets brand)
Instructions:
  • 1. Preheat your oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced and prepare a 6cm-deep, 23cm square cake pan by greasing and lining it with baking paper. Follow the instructions on the packet cake mix and pour the batter into the pan. Bake for 1 hour or until a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it stand for 15 minutes before turning it out onto a wire rack to cool.
  • Level the cake top using a large serrated knife. Put the cake cut-side down on a board. Lay the pattern over the cake and, with a small sharp knife, cut around the pattern, removing any excess cake.
  • Color the buttercream icing with green food coloring and generously spread it over the top of both cakes.
  • Garnish with butterflies and candies. Slice sour straps in half lengthwise and twist to create flip-flop straps. Place on top of cakes and add flowers in the middle. Serve.
