Indulgent caramel layer cake, deliciously iced. Perfect for parties or as a sweet surprise gift.
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 cups self-rising flour
  • 1.5 cups canola oil
  • 1.25 cups buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 (14 ounce) cans sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons butter
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and generously grease three 9-inch cake pans.
  • In a large bowl, mix flour, canola oil, white sugar, buttermilk, eggs, vinegar, baking soda, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and cocoa powder until evenly combined for 2 to 5 minutes. Pour the batter evenly into the cake pans.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until beautifully golden brown for approximately 20 minutes. Then, allow it to cool for around 30 minutes before enjoying.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, bring sweetened condensed milk, dark brown sugar, butter, 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, and salt to a boil. Stir continuously until the frosting thickens (about 3 to 5 minutes). Allow it to cool for approximately 5 minutes.
  • Remove the cakes from the pans and spread frosting on each layer. Stack the layers and frost the top and sides.
