Indulge in nostalgic sticky toffee apples.
Ingredients:
  • Vegetable oil, to brush
  • 12 large green apples or red apples
  • 880g (4 cups) caster sugar
  • 40.00 ml white vinegar
  • A few drops red food colouring
Instructions:
  • Prepare a baking tray by lining it with aluminium foil and brushing it with oil.
  • Prepare the apples by washing, drying, and inserting a sturdy wooden stick into the stem of each one. In a saucepan over low heat, mix sugar, vinegar, and 500ml (2 cups) water until sugar dissolves. Increase heat to medium, add food coloring, and cook for 15-20 minutes until the mixture resembles runny honey.
  • Remove the pot from the heat and use the stick to delicately dip each apple into the warm syrup before placing it on the lined tray.
  • Allow to cool. Once completely cooled, wrap in cellophane, tie with a ribbon, and label.
