Crispy fried pork cutlets with sticky rice and tonkatsu sauce. Delicious Japanese comfort food. Can also be made with chicken breasts.
Ingredients:
  • 4 (4 ounce) boneless pork chops
  • 2 cups oil for frying, or as needed
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 0.75 cup panko (Japanese-style bread crumbs)
Instructions:
  • Place the pork chops between plastic wrap on a sturdy surface. Pound the pork to 1/4-inch thickness using a meat mallet. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Heat a skillet with oil about 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) deep over medium-high heat until it reaches 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Set up a flour bowl, an egg bowl, and a panko crumbs bowl. Coat each cutlet in flour, then egg, and finish with breadcrumbs. Gently shake off excess crumbs.
  • Fry the cutlets until they are perfectly golden brown on both sides, ensuring they are cooked through, approximately 4 minutes per side. Place on paper towels to drain the excess oil.
