Crispy Filipino spring rolls packed with savory pork, veggies - perfect appetizer or side dish.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 0.5 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 0.5 cup minced carrots
  • 0.5 cup chopped green onions
  • 0.5 cup thinly sliced green cabbage
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 30 lumpia wrappers
  • 2 cups vegetable oil for frying, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Prepare all the delicious ingredients.
  • In a sizzling wok, sear the pork in 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil until golden brown and cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes. Set aside the flavorful pork, then carefully discard excess grease, keeping a light coating in the pan for added flavor.
  • Saute the onion and garlic in the pan until fragrant, approximately 2 minutes.
  • Mix in the tender cooked pork, fresh carrots, crisp green onions, tangy cabbage, and fragrant cilantro. Season generously with pepper, salt, garlic powder, and savory soy sauce. Let it cool off the heat for approximately 5 minutes before moving on.
  • Lay 3 generous tablespoons of filling diagonally near one corner of a lumpia wrapper, ensuring a 1 ½ inch gap at both ends.
  • Gently fold the sides of the filling lengthwise over the filling, tuck in the ends, and roll tightly and neatly to seal shut.
  • Dampen the opposite side of the wrapper with water to seal, then place on a plate and cover with plastic wrap to keep it moist. Repeat for the rest of the lumpia.
  • Warm the 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a sturdy skillet over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  • Fry 3 to 4 lumpia in hot oil, seams facing down, until golden brown on all sides, about 1 to 2 minutes. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate and repeat with the remaining lumpia.
  • Serve right away and savor every bite!
