Impress your guests with a tropical fruit flambé served with vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup apple juice
  • 1 medium ripe mango, peeled and sliced
  • 2 medium ripe bananas, peeled and sliced
  • 6 large strawberries, sliced crosswise
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.25 cup dark rum
  • 1.5 scoops vanilla ice cream
Instructions:
  • Place a large pan over medium-high heat on the stove. Add apple juice and brown sugar to the pan. Simmer until the mixture turns golden and starts to bubble, approximately 4 minutes.
  • Place mango, banana, and strawberry slices in the pan along with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Stir gently to ensure the fruit is coated evenly. Cook for 3 minutes.
  • Take the pan off the heat and pour in the rum. Return the pan to the heat and carefully ignite the rum with a long lighter. Allow the flame to extinguish naturally, then cook for an additional minute.
  • Distribute the fruit evenly among 3 bowls and crown each with a generous 1/2 scoop of ice cream.
