Satisfying ground turkey pasta bake with whole wheat penne and low-fat cheeses for a burst of flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (16 ounce) container low-fat ricotta cheese
  • 1 (8 ounce) package shredded low-fat mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced, or more to taste
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 (1 pound) package whole-wheat penne pasta
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 (13.5 ounce) jar spaghetti sauce
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C) for perfect cooking temperature.
  • Combine velvety ricotta cheese, gooey mozzarella cheese, pungent garlic, and a sprinkle of salt and pepper in a bowl. Leave it on the counter to reach room temperature.
  • Boil pasta in a pot of salted water for about 11 minutes until al dente. Drain and transfer to a large bowl.
  • While the pasta is cooking, heat a skillet over medium heat. Crumble the turkey into the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until the turkey is fully browned. Drain any excess liquid and combine the turkey with the cooked pasta.
  • Start by generously coating the bottom of a 13x9-inch baking dish with 2 tablespoons of spaghetti sauce. Mix the remaining spaghetti sauce into the pasta and turkey blend. Place half of the pasta mixture into the baking dish, followed by a layer of the cheese mix. Add the remaining pasta mix on top. Optionally, cover with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes until lightly golden on top.
