Succulent BBQ turkey burgers with quinoa for extra flavor and moistness, spiced up with hot sauce for a delicious kick.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup water
  • 0.5 cup quinoa
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 5 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 0.5 cup Worcestershire sauce, divided
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 tablespoons barbeque sauce (such as Sweet Baby Ray's®)
  • 2 tablespoons hot pepper sauce
  • 1 tablespoon seasoned salt (such as LAWRY'S®)
  • 2 teaspoons ground black pepper
  • 2 pounds lean ground turkey
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and line a glass baking dish with aluminum foil.
  • Place quinoa in a saucepan with water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until tender. Allow to cool.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onion in oil until translucent, around 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  • In a large bowl, mix together cooked quinoa, onion mixture, 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce, eggs, barbeque sauce, hot sauce, seasoned salt, and black pepper. Add ground turkey and combine well by hand, then shape into patties and transfer to the prepared baking dish.
  • Combine the remaining Worcestershire sauce and brown sugar in a bowl until a paste forms. Spread over the patties.
  • Cook the patties in the oven until they are fully cooked through, for about 35 to 45 minutes.
