Try this delicious turkey meatloaf recipe with a secret ingredient: nutty quinoa for improved texture.
Ingredients:
  • 1 egg
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 0.25 cup quinoa
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 large clove garlic, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1 (20 ounce) package ground turkey
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
Instructions:
  • In a saucepan, bring 1/2 cup water and quinoa to a boil over high heat. Lower the heat to medium-low, cover, and cook until quinoa is tender and water is absorbed, about 15 to 20 minutes. Let it cool.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and cover a baking sheet with foil.
  • In a skillet over medium heat, sauté onions in olive oil until soft and translucent, about 5 minutes. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute. Set aside to cool slightly before using.
  • Combine brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and water in a small bowl until a smooth paste forms.
  • Combine turkey, cooked quinoa, onion mixture, egg, 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, hot sauce, salt, and pepper in a large bowl until thoroughly mixed; the mixture will be moist. Form into a loaf shape and transfer to the lined baking sheet. Spread brown sugar paste on top.
  • Roast in the warm oven until fully cooked, around 50 minutes. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure it reaches at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C) in the middle. Allow to rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.
